CAJ A WINNER

L’Oreal Colour Trophy State Awards 2010 played centre stage at Melbourne’s glamorous Crown Casino. The who’s who of the hair world showcased their outstanding hair collections; the trends were raw, daring, new, fresh and commercially outstanding.

CAJ Hairdressing took out 3 awards on the night with 2 in the Women’s category and 1 in the Men’s.

It is always amazing to create an award winning collection that is new and innovative, one that can be achieved and is commercially wearable. The collection for CAJ was all about healthy shinny hair, solid colours with splashes of hidden shades of pastel blondes. The CAJ team wanted their clients to experience the freedom of change. Creating the colour splashes allows you to change your look by simply changing your hair parting, as each day is a new day.

Million Dollar Hat

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. They come in all different colours, shapes, sizes and price tags. But look out diamond lovers the black diamond is the new pink, says renowned Melbourne milliner and creator of the million-dollar hat Nadia Trowsdale from The House of CAJ.

The million-dollar hat is a wearable piece of artwork, showcasing over 4,000 black and white simulated diamonds, especially cut and produced by SECRETS Shh… This million-dollar Black Secret was inspired by the 1920’s art deco era. “As an artist I am always looking for inspiration be it history, art, or nature,” says Nadia Trowsdale, “for this art creation I wanted to use the black diamond, because of its mysterious, elusive and magnetic powers, however after extensive research it was clear that black diamonds were extremely rare and prone to flaws and weaknesses, so I asked Susie Drever from Secrets Shh… to create thousands of flawless black diamond simulants to produce the dramatic and powerful effect that was needed to compliment this art deco inspired creation”.

The million-dollar hat took over a year to complete and thousands of hours creating the clusters and design. When you want to make a wearable piece of artwork it’s a whole new way of looking at art. It’s important that the design is engineered, tried and tested from every aspect to achieve comfort, design, balance, beauty, etc.

For me it would have been a shame to create this beautiful artwork and not be able to wear it comfortable. The million dollar hat has special powers; apart from the obvious it is believed in medieval times waving a black diamond in front of an aggravated spouse resolved all conflict. Just imagine what 4,000 of them could do!

Goldrush

GOLD RUSH!
This year’s must have hair colour

A gold rush of goddesses with hair from butter yellow to ash blonde have sashayed down the runway like some new genetic breed. In a sense they are a contemporary clan, since the vast percentage of their hair colouring, thanks to chemistry rather than parentage comes from a bottle. Historically blonde hair is associated with Nordic heritage. As far back as the Romans, fashion victims were always in search of something new. Even then blonde had a rarity value and it conferred status on all those who possessed it stolen or otherwise, the Romans had Goddesses they wanted to emulate, and had them portrayed in paintings – Botticelli’s Venus,Veronese, Tintoretto… Today we have super models, rock stars and Hollywood, since its beginning the big screen has portrayed the blonde as playful, innocent, raunchy, elegant and glamorous!
It has downloaded itself into our sub-conscious that blondes are more likely to be outgoing, lively, and more feminine than there brunette or red head counter-parts. In a sense I must confess I am guilty of favoring the golden hue, not because of all of the above, but rather the challenge of executing a colour that can suggest and sum up a personality. The truth of the mater is with up to 70% of salon Clients choosing to highlight, lift or camouflage hair with the golden hue! The number one choice is quite clear. The golden/blonde hues vary from honey, strawberry, vanilla, pearl, platinum, ash, beige, caramel or cream. With the blend of one or more of these hues you then define a personality be it elegant, innocent, glamour’s, playful or powerful. The outcome is always of paramount importance to the individual creation. With all that in mind before you rush out for the new glamorous, playful or powerful you! Keep in mind that colour is the root of any girl’s personality. Be clear about the image your after, consider the commitment you are about to undertake, remember your skin tone and lifestyle, and most of all I must insist that the importance of being a blonde at anytime in history or fashion is – to be the right BLONDE!
